So I have really been focusing my efforts on becoming a better 3D Modeler and getting more and more comfortable with whatever software I am using at the time in hopes of developing a more efficient workflow for myself. That being said, this is my second attempt at hard surface modeling, (the Gun being my first). Please check out the images in the 3D Modeling folder of my little RC Car. I gotta say that I actually just had fun with this one. I feel like I am getting to a point with my skill set that makes me comfortable with the software (in this case Maya) and, in turn, this allows me to just have fun and attack a project! Now the trick is, between career, family (specifically my kids), and school, to make time to continue to challenge myself with personal projects. I think I am going to revisit organic models next. I like my first human figure I did, but I think I can get a lot better. Here’s hoping!
So here is the deal; I have roughly about five years until I retire from the US Army and start my “grown-up” job somewhere in the Game/ Film industries. This means, that I have about the same amount of time to continue to develop my craft, workflow, understanding of the industry, and to enhance my portfolio. This is where you all come in. I NEED YOU! I have very thick skin (doesn’t translate to “Be a complete tool.”) and I take “CONSTRUCTIVE” criticism quite well. Please don’t be silent! If you see something you like, tell me! If you see something you don’t like, don’t just tell me (huge pet peeve) offer a suggestion on how to fix it or make it better. Let’s do this together. I only have two very biased eyes, I need as many as I can to get where I need to be. Thanks all.
My name is Shawn Hall. I am training to be a 3D Modeler (both hard surface and organic), Texture Artist, and Concept Artist. I specialize in the use of all industry standard tools to include, but not limited to; Autodesk Maya and Mud-box, 3DS Max, Z Brush, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash. Though I hope to specialize in the above-mentioned fields within the Game Development pipeline, I also have experience in developing/ programming Flash Games, creating Vector Graphics, and 3D character animation.
I feel that I am forward thinking, incredibly efficient, self managed, driven, and always a student that is open and receptive to learning and implementing new tools and techniques used within the industry to streamline my own workflow. I attribute these qualities to the fact that I am also currently an Active Duty Infantryman with the United States Army, and have been for the last fifteen years. I push myself harder than anyone else could ever hope to, and I apply the discipline and work ethic that has been engrained into me in everything I do.
Thank you for taking the time to review my Portfolio. Enjoy!
